Release of biggies like ‘Goa’, ‘Thamizh Padam’ and ‘Jaggubhai’ on January 29 has not stopped novice Kumaran from releasing ‘Dhairiyam’, in which he has tried his hands in production, direction and acting, aptly reflecting the title.

Kumaran is a familiar face in Red Hills, a suburb of Chennai, where he runs a Youth Association and renders various social service activities, besides a group of business establishments. And ‘Dhairiyam’ is his debut venture in Tamil cinema.

The film has Dheepu and Karthika playing the heroines. Says Kumaran, “the movie is about a youth who takes up the many challenges that life throws at him and happily overcomes them”.

The actor-filmmaker is a black belt in Karate, and is well-versed in horse riding and dancing too. “Since I am confident about my skills to fight, I chose to do an action film first,” he says with all hope.

On competing with big films at the box office, Kumaran says, “there is a fan-following for action films and we would be releasing ‘Dhairiyam’ in 150 theatres all over Tamil Nadu”.
