The Tamil Film Producers Council has hailed Chief Minister M Karunanidhi for coming forward to give his remuneration for penning the script of the movie ‘Ilaignan’ (Rs 45 lakh) to the newly constituted board for the welfare of differently-abled persons.

In a statement, TFPC president Rama Narayanan said, “This is not the first time for the Chief Minister to donate the salary he received for working in films. The payments from ‘Mannin Maindhan’ and ‘Uliyin Osai’ were given to workers in the film industry.”

He added: “And now, Kalaignar has come forward to donate the remuneration from ‘Ilaignan’ to the board for the welfare of the differently abled. This shows his kind-heartedness. He is a living Valluvar, a legend beyond comparison.”

The Producers Council president, while saying that the films in which Karunanidhi had worked should become super hits, added: “The TFPC wants the Chief Minister to continue his services in the film industry for more than 100 years from now.”
