Police have filed cases against actors Vadivelu and Kushboo, both campaigning for the ruling DMK alliance, based on complaints that they violated rules during their election campaigns.

The Tiruvarur Police registered a case against Vadivelu for having spoken in a public meeting denigrating DMDK leader Vijayakanth thus promoting enmity, hatred and ill will between the cadres of two different parties in breach of the model code of conduct.

The case was registered following a complaint lodged with the Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu by Dileep Kumar, a high-power committee member of Vijayakanth’s DMDK, Chennai.

Two cases have been filed against Kushboo in Theni district. In the first case, the actress allegedly disrupted traffic while campaigning. The second case was filed as some cars in her convoy did not have required permission.
