Ajith is all set to loom large in big screens across Tamil Nadu when his 50th film 'Mankatha' will see a worldwide release on August 31. The complete music album of the film, by Yuvan, which released recently has got the pulse of the youth and is rocketing up the music charts.

Now sources close to the handsome actor have revealed that he might soon play the lead in Mani Ratnam's forthcoming project. IG had earlier reported that the 'Bombay' director was spotted in the coastal areas of Kerala, where he had gone location hunting for this project which will unfold the misery of the Tamil Nadu fisher folk and at the same time weave a love tale as it progresses.

Birdies in the industry suggest that Mani Ratnam met Ajith recently on the sets of 'Billa 2' and the duo were engrossed in talk for more than a couple of hours. Ajith and Mani are reported to have looked quite positive towards the end of the meeting. Mani Ratnam usually summons actors to his office to have dialogues with them before signing them for films; his meeting Ajith on the latter's location has been quite a surprise to all those who saw the director there.

Well if the dialogue proves fruitful then we might have some good news for fans of Thala as well as Mani films; if all goes well this will be the first ever project involving Mani and Ajith!
