A treat of unusual kind awaits film buffs this weekend, as two different films- 'Aravaan' and 'Kondaan Koduthaan'- are hitting the screens.

Produced by T Siva of Amma Creations and directed by Vasantha Balan, 'Aravaan', a period drama, is based on Su Venkatesan's Sahitya Akademi winning novel 'Kaaval Kottam'.

Aadhi, Dhanshika, Pasupathi, Archana Kavi and others have played pivotal roles. Music is by popular playback singer Karthik who is debuting as a composer through this film. "I am hoping big on Aravaan. It is a mega movie in all aspects," says Aadhi.

'Kondaan Koduthaan' is an emotional family drama, directed by G Rajendran, who has worked as cameraman in many films directed by V Sekar. Kathir, who played the lead in 'Veluthu Kattu', will be playing the lead while 'Sahagal' fame Advaitha is heroine. Ilavarasu, Ganja Karuppu and Raj Kaooor form part of the cast.

Speaking about the film, Rajendran says, "It is a family drama. It speaks of the need to maintain good rapport between relatives. The need to ensure brothers and sisters show affection forms the crux of the film. Human values are lost today. So the movie tries to convey a strong message".
