It has been confirmed and it is official now. The title of the next Rajinikanth film is 'Kathanayakudu' and not 'Kucheludu' as mentioned earlier.

Shooting for 'Kathanayakudu' is complete and the post production work is going on right now. Shot extensively in Kerala, Tamilnadu and Hyderabad, 'Kathanayakudu' is the dubbed version of ‘Kuselan’ made in Tamil.

Interestingly this is a remake of the Mammooty starrer ‘Katha Parayumbol’ a Malayalam film that went on to be critically acclaimed and a financial success at the box office too.

The superstar plays himself in the film and the story is about two childhood friends who go their different ways as they grow into adulthood. One ends up being a poor barber struggling to make ends meet and the other a superstar in the movies. What happens when the two meet after all those years holds the crux and the director P. Vasu reportedly has excelled in the melodramatic sequences of the film.

Nayantara plays the superstar’s lady love and Jagapathi Babu plays an important role in the film. Aswini Dutt is the producer and young G. V. Prakash has composed music. An extravagant audio launch has been planned on June 30 in Chennai.
