If there was ever an actor for whom slipping into varied and multi-hued roles had always been a cakewalk, it is Mohan Babu. One of the most popular actors of his generation, and even today, the actor burst on the screen as a debut hero on this day in 1975 in the film Swargam Narakam. This one was directed by Dasari Narayana Rao, whose disciple he would eventually become.

With his performance-oriented roles in a wide variety of genres, Mohan Babu has carved a distinction for himself in the Telugu filmdom. Having acted in more than 500 films, he has come to be known for his vast body of work as well as his taste for films as a responsible producer.

Coming back to Swargam Narakam, released on this day 36 years ago, the movie made him a familiar face overnight. Thanks to Dasari and the film, Mohan Babu had no need to look back again.
