Venkatesh's tryst with remakes dates back to the '90s. How did he chance upon Bhagya Raj's movies and decide to remake some of them? Well, it was when he got injured while filming for a movie, that he happened to watch Raj's movies during recuperation and got inspired to remake them. Luckily for him, the audience appreciated Venky in those movies. It was in the fitness of the things, that he went on to adapt them in Telugu, one after one.

"As I watched his movies, I strongly felt that the stories would suit me. The thought of remaking them in Telugu came to me. All those films fetched me fame. In a sense, I was injured for good," he says in retrospect.

Venkatesh, whose Bodyguard is set to release in January, is going to captain CCL-2's Telugu Warriors team. A cricket crazy fan himself, Venky often says that he would have been a cricketer if he did not become an actor. "Though I might not have scored centuries, I would have become a good player. I stopped practising cricket after some years. Whenever I play with Srikanth, Tarun and others, I relive my old days. Since I miss the game, wherever the Indian team plays cricket, I go to watch the match in the stadium and cheer them," the SVSC actor says.
