14 lions have been found in the vicinity of South Africa's Kruger National Park near a mining community. The public has been warned to be alert at all times. It is suspected that the lions have escaped from the park. It is not clear how long the big cats have been on the loose. Park officials and the government had decided to catch and release the tigers in the National Park. this may not be feasible however as dominant lions chase out the new arrivals.

Ike Phaahla, park spokesman said that: “There is a danger to members of the public who are working in the area. There is the possibility of wildlife-human conflict, so people have to be careful. We need to identify a park where they can be taken and establish their own area."
