171 government schools to get LKG and UKG classes

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami has launched pre-school classes in nearly 171 middle-schools in the Vellore district on Monday to help facilitate the children to an easier learning process.

“LKG and UKG classes will be established in 171 middle schools across Vellore district. The admission for the classes has already begun. Initially, we are enrolling Anganwadi students into the kindergarten,” said Chief Education Officer, S Mars. LKG classes will be taken up by students older than three-and-half-years, while UKG classes will be taken up by students above the age of four-and-half, according to a report. The CEO also added that 171 teachers have been appointed for the same. “As many as 171 teachers for each of the schools, where LKG and UKG are going to be opened, have been appointed.”

Besides the Montessori coaching training, the teachers will reportedly go through a crash course for a period of five days which will be carried out by the State Council for Educational Research and Training.
