2006 - A happening year for Ranveer Shourey

  • IndiaGlitz, [Thursday,August 10 2006]

Popular VJ and anchor is celebrating one of the most happening years for him in the Bollywood scheme of things.

Starting his big screen career opposite Manisha Koirala in 'Ek Chotisi Love Story' and playing bit roles in films like 'Jism', 'The Film', 'Freaky Chakra', 'Lakshya' and 'Hum Dum', he made quite an impression this year with 'Mixed Doubles'. It won't be wrong to state that he was the brightest spot and the lifeline of an otherwise lukewarm film.

He was seen in a bit role again in 'Yun Hota To Kya Hota' this year but coming months would see him in some major acts. His upcoming release 'Pyaar Ke Side Effects' projects him as a jilted lover who believes marriage is an equivalent of suicide, remains untidy throughout and provides priceless suggestions to his best friend Rahul Bose. Then he changes course in Madhur Bhandarkar's 'Traffic Signal' where he plays a pimp operating near a single.

Last but not the least, he would also be seen as one of the couples in Farhan Akhtar's 'Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd' that is touted to be one of the rocking entertainers to be hitting theatres late this year/early next year!

DON Defies Gravity

If you ask me I prefer the lean-mean Don over the worth-sympathising Dev Saran of ‘Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna’. The sneak peak at Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Don’ where Shahrukh Khan like the vintage Baazigar says unabashedly “I am the King” and you just feel like saying Why not dude! The colourful shirts, the designer sex appeal and that sinister negativity on the face is simply lovely.
