Tamil Nadu: 25-year-old man tests positive for coronavirus in Chennai

A 25-year-old man from Chennai's west Mambalam tested positive for the novel coronavirus, taking the total number of infected cases in Tamil Nadu to 42.

The patient has been isolated at a private hospital and is currently undergoing treatment. Tamil Nadu's Health Minister C Vijayabaskar has mentioned that his condition is currently stable. Although details regarding his travel history have not yet been revealed. Earlier today, a 60-year-old man from Rajapalayam, Virudhunagar, was diagnosed with the virus. Three more patients admitted to an isolation ward across various hospitals in Tamil Nadu passed away this morning. The test results of all three of them are awaited. However, all of them had underlying medical conditions. The 66-year-old patient reportedly had a chronic kidney disease and lymphoma, while the 24-year-old had viral pneumonia with high sepsis. The third was a 2-year-old who suffered from congenital anomaly of Osteopetrosis.

A total of 42 cases have been registered in Tamil Nadu as of Saturday, while 953 cases have been confirmed across India. 21 fatalities have been reported in the country so far.
