29 Killed After Bus Falls off Yamuna Expressway

29 people lost their lives after a bus heading from Lucknow to Anand Vihar (Delhi) slipped off the Yamuna Expressway near Agra. The bus carrying around 45 to 50 passengers is said to have fallen approximately 50 feet in the gap between two flyovers. It is suggested that the driver may have lost control of the bus after falling asleep. The accident took place at around 4:30 am. Villagers from Baghel Thar managed to extricate 20 passengers from the vehicle. The police then arrived at the spot and rushed the injured to the hospital. 2 hours later bulldozers and cranes lifted the bus but the remaining passengers had already died.

The bus fell from 50 foot into a gorge (naala).” Bablu Kumar, SSP Agra, said: “It is an unfortunate incident and efforts are on to rescue the survivors.
