Kamal Haasan is touring the kongu region for the past couple of days and has visited Thanthai Periyaar residence in Erode district and also addressed a public gathering in Bhavani.  He is currently in Coimbatore and a group of 60 doctors met him and have formally joined the Makkal Neethi Maiam.

It may be recalled that a furore was caused in 2004 when Kamal Haasan's 'Vasoolraja MBBS' released.  Doctors at that time felt that the film title and the story was degrading them and protested vehemently.  Now all that seems to have changed and the politician Kamal is getting more and more support from people of all wakes of society which could make him a force to reckon with when the general elections arrive in a couple of years or so.
