8 individuals including Dr. Saravanan of DMK have filed affidavits with the one-man Commission of Inquiry headed by Justice (Retd.) Arumuga Swamy. The COI, which probes the mysterious demise of former Tamil Nadu chief-minister J. Jayalalithaa, has received more than 70 complaints so far.

Jayalalithaa was declared ‘dead’ on the night of 05th December last year after a prolonged 75-day hospitalization at the Apollo Hospitals. Former chief-minister O. Panneerselvam (now the deputy chief-minister) waged a ‘battle for justice’ demanding judicial inquiry into his former boss’ demise and stopped short of accusing Sasikala as the one who ‘hastened’ the demise of Jayalalithaa.

Justice Arumuga Swamy COI has been set up by the present regime with a mandate to complete its investigations within three months and submit a comprehensive report. The Judge has made a statement open to all and calling for all sorts of information, data and detail anybody could provide him to help his probe into the mysterious demise of the former ever-powerful chief-minister.

DMK’s losing Tirupparankundram candidate Dr. Saravanan is among the 9 individuals who have filed affidavits with the COI to depose before it. Saravanan has been invited to depose on 22nd November and gradually, others would also be invited to depose before it.
