8 Vasanthalu Movie Review

8 Vasantalu, directed by Phanindra Narisetti, has been released today amid decent expectations. Let’s dive into the review to see how the film has fared.

Story:

Shuddhi Ayodhya (Ananthika), grieving her father's death, finds solace in writing. In Ooty, she meets Varun (Hanu Reddy), who falls for her, and she slowly reciprocates. But Varun abandons her for selfish reasons. As Shuddhi regains control of her life, Sanjay (Ravi Duggirala) enters the picture—what role he plays and how her love story unfolds form the rest of the tale.

Analysis:

The feel-good journey portrayed in 8 Vasantalu has its strengths in its dialogues, select romantic scenes, and the emotional perspectives of its characters. It beautifully captures the emotional turmoil of a person when someone they love deeply walks away. Sanjay’s silent efforts to win Shuddhi’s love and the emotional and tender scenes between the leads are definite highlights.

Ananthika Sanilkumar, as the heroine, delivers a performance that works in the film’s favor, especially in the second half. Hanu Reddy does complete justice to his role. Ravi Teja performs with ease and subtlety, particularly shining in the climax and romantic scenes. Smaran Reddy’s core theme as the writer is solid, and the emotional beats in the second half are handled well.

8 Vasanthalu Movie Review

Although 8 Vasantalu ends on an emotionally strong note, the overall narrative feels quite routine. Despite having an impactful central idea, director Phanindra Narisetti fails to craft a screenplay that lives up to its potential. The romantic track between the leads needed more depth and strength.

When dealing with emotional concepts like this, the storytelling should be rich with emotions and powerful character arcs. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case here. Some scenes feel like they were written just for the sake of dialogue, and the emotional conflict between characters could have been explored more deeply.

Director Phanindra Narisetti delivers a mixed performance, while his dialogues shine, the screenplay lacks engagement. Music by Hesham Abdul Wahab is decent, and the background score is passable. Editor Shashank could’ve trimmed a few unnecessary scenes to improve the pace. The cinematography is impressive, with visuals appearing both natural and visually appealing. Overall, the production values are good.

Verdict:

8 Vasantalu is an emotional love drama with a few well-written romantic scenes and touching dialogues. However, the film falters in its narration, weak characterizations, and a few illogical scenes. While it tries to define the purity of love, it only partially succeeds. Some elements will connect with romantic audiences, but the film may not resonate with the wider audience.

Rating: 2.5 / 5.0
