Expectations

We live in the times when our cinema screens are filled with the superhero movies from 'Marvels' & 'DC', while the television sets show us the animated series like 'Chota Bheem' and 'Bal Veer'.

The superhero films have managed to do wonders at the box-office in recent times as audience love watching the costume caped hero fighting the dangerous villains. Our Hindi filmmakers have also ventured into this genre right since the black and white era, but managed to get its proper due only recently with help of films like 'Krrish', 'Robot', 'Ra.One', etc. Many other actors ventured into this alien territory but failed to create their mark.

The latest to join them is Tiger Shroff with his film 'A Flying Jatt' and is riding high with back to back successful films. Thus, the expectation level is at sky high as the movie also has Jacqueline Fernandez and Hollywood actor Nathan Jones.

Story

'A Flying Jatt' is a story of a rich industrialist Malhotra (Kay Kay Menon) who wants to complete his dream project by acquiring a residential land owned by Aman (Tiger Shroff) and his mother (Amrita Singh). Aman and his mother are also protector of a sacred tree in their land, due to which they refuse to accept Malhotra's offers. Malhotra appoints his most powerful henchmen Raka (Nathan Jones) to destroy the sacred tree. Aman tries to stop Raka but fails to overpower him. At that time Aman gets some magical powers from the sacred tree due to which he manages to save the sacred tree from the clutches of Raka. Aman keeps discovering his super powers and with the help of his mother and best friend Akshay (Gaurav Pandey). Aman transforms into a masked super hero known as Flying Jatt but before he could save the world, Raka returns back with his share of super powers.

The 'Glitz' Factor

There are some unintentionally funny scenes like featuring Amrita Singh, Tiger Shroff and Gaurav Pandey. Also, couple of fight scenes between Tiger and Nathan Jones are fun to watch. These scenes thankfully acts as mini energy boosters in order to watch this movie.

Music by Sachin-Jigar is decent with visually appealing song like 'Beat Pe Booty'. 'Toota Jo Kabhi Tara' is good to hear and bad to be seen.

Director Remo D'Souza tries to make superhero film and ends up delivering a kid flick, which will do wonders on home video and television. Tiger Shroff, when it comes to dancing and fighting, he surely knows how to lure his audience. Jacqueline Fernandez looks good in the songs. Amrita Singh is hilarious. Gaurav Pandey lends good support. Shraddha Kapoor's cameo was enjoyable.

The 'Non-Glitz' Factor

The story on papers seems to be enjoyable, but when it comes to execution, the whole concept goes wasted as the makers have presented it in a terrible format. Right from the first scene of the film till the last, everything looks artificial.

In 'A Flying Jatt', you will find many resemblances with several Hollywood superheroes based films and Tiger saving hostages from terrorists tops the chart as its frame to frame replica of Quicksilver's track from the 'X-Men' series.

The second half of the movie goes on a documentary mode as it starts preaching about environment issues followed by forcefully inserted scenes with religious sentiment.. The C.G.I work and special effects are outdated and looked totally weak.The torture goes to its best form in the finale part where Tiger fights with Nathan in space, mood and over the nuclear satellites. The whole world is trying to enhance the C.G.I effects in their films and deliver something unseen, Remo and his team are still stuck in the time zone of the 90's era.

Background music is jarring. The whole presentation and styling of the film is tacky, weak and outdated. Hrithik Roshan's 'Krrish' series looks like classics in front of 'A Flying Jatt'. It's a huge opportunity lost for the director and the whole team as, if rightly executed the movie could have done much better.

Tiger Shroff showed great improvement as an actor in his last film, out here he gets stuck to his typical facial expressions. The limitation as an actor is clearly visible in several key scenes of the movie.Jacqueline Fernandez has been criminally wasted in the film. Kay KayMenon looked stale and repetitive. Nathan Jones hams to the fullest.

Final 'Glitz'

'A Flying Jatt' promises to be a fun-filled ride, but only for kids and for all others, it's a turbulent journey due to its super length, tacky special effects and bad direction.
