Chennai: Saira Banu has requested not to be referred to as A.R. Rahman's former wife. She clarified that they have not legally divorced but are currently living separately.

An official statement from her side mentioned that, despite years of marriage, she made the difficult choice to live separately due to pressures in their relationship. Although they had deep love for each other, some difficulties led to their separation. The statement added that Saira had taken this decision due to emotional struggles and now seeks privacy during this challenging time.

Last year in November, A.R. Rahman and Saira Banu announced their separation after 29 years of marriage. At that time, Saira Banu also released an audio message stating that she was undergoing medical treatment in Mumbai.
