Aarohanam

Actress-turned-filmmaker Lakshmi Ramakrishnan is geared up for the release of her maiden directorial venture 'Aarohanam', which is slated to hit the screens on 26 October.

The movie is based on a series of events that take place on a single day. It narrates the story of a 17-year-old boy and his sister's search for their missing mother.

The film stars Jayaprakash, Viji Chandrasekhar, Kavithalaya Krishnan, Uma Padmanabhan, Rajee Vijayasarathy and Sampath Raj in lead roles.

Produced by Anoop under his AVA Productions, 'Rowdhram' fame Shanmuga Sundaram is in charge of cinematography and the music has been composed by K.

Other technical staff include National award-winning editor Kishore, dance exponent Bobby and stunts by Dileep Subburayan.

Says Lakshmi Ramakrishnan: "My film is about the free spirited women we see in real life, but rarely on-screen. One of the characters in the film is close to someone I've encountered in my life."

Speaking more about the film, she says, "the quintessence of the film is a series of enthralling and amusing events that take place on a single day, but render revelations to a lifetime that follows."

"The main plot revolves around the search for the missing mother of a 17-year-old boy and his sister. The journey takes us through flashes of their life and many colours of the mom's character. Whether they find her and what happens forms the climax of the film".

Veteran filmmaker K Balachander who watched the special screening of the movie recently heaped laurels on Lakshmi Ramakrishnan for her sincere effort on-screen.
