We had been with plenty of debutante directors this year, whose first films didn't qualify, even to be called an entertainer. But Rajesh K Abraham, doesn't fall into this group, evident from his ASK-  `Aaru Sundarimarude Kadha'. A well narrated film about the lives of six ladies who destinies change with the changing mindsets of  a few men, ASK is a clean film  that discusses many issues tackled poorly by the recent `Bhaaya athra Pora'.

The movie has Six beautiful ladies in the lead, who are presented by Chaci Moothedan, the character played by Zarina Wahab , who is a wealthy warm mother living with her farm and related activities at Wagamon. Rose Moothedan(Nadhiya Modhu) , her only daughter, was a former basketball player who has quit her game to live a happy life as a house wife of the entrepreneur Alex Paul(Prathap Pothen) , who heads their family owned TV channel, indianet. Anju rose(Umank K jain) is their only daughter who plays tennis and is popular as the future  prospect  of the country in Grand slam tournaments. Cyns(Lena) is a channel anchor working with indianet, who wants to make it big in life , with her own mysterious plans. Meena (Shamna Kassim) is an old fashioned young girl who eloped with her lover Sreekumar(Naren), and is currently leading a difficult life as Sree is thrown out of his software firm following recession. The sixth `Sundhari ` is the lady police commissioner Fousia Hassan, a tough cop ,who prefers to live a lonely life.

The problem with the movie is an overambitious script which tries to  hold together too many subjects- ranging  from the new generation gadgets, social networking sites, infidelity perils and finally a murder mystery. But the debutante director has almost managed to keep things under control and uses the best of the techniques to make things work. His packaging is the sole thing that helps the movie to tide over many inconsequential sequences  discussing  disloyalty and moral lessons on the use of Internet.

All the lady character sin the movie looks fine. But Zarine Wahab steals the show with her energy. Nadhiya  is fine and packs a punch wither performance  but her old fashioned dubbing and accent will not have many takers. Lena, as usual excels as a bold lady, more interested in a free,' living together' life. Shamna is adequate in her role of a housewife, while Lekshmy Rai seems miscast in her role.    Prathap Pothen as  a middle-aged, rich man who likes to be a safe  playboy  is just passable in his role. But he fails to add any additional dimensions or mannerisms that could have made his character work big time. Definitely a more popular actor in this lead role could have increased the commercial prospects the movie. Naren is effective in some scenes like that `first -love tale in US accent'  but is inconsistent in some other sequences.

The technical sides are good with Sammer Haq coming up with some fine visuals. Deepak Dev's songs including the lullaby `Ponoonchalil' are good to hear while his BG scores lifts many of the sequences from falling into mediocrity. The editing by Pradeep Prabhakar and the costumes are all good.

In the final analysis this `ASK' may not make the Box Office happy. But the movie definitely has something that may not bore you much for an one time watch.
