Aayirathil Oruvan(Malayalam)

Sibi Malayil- the veteran director who had once been a regular in creating hit movies is really having a tough time now a days. His last five films like `Jalotsavam' and `Amruthum', to the recent `Flash', has been duds in the box office.

None of them, each with a new scriptwriter and crew, appealed to his regular family audiences who couldn't find anything worth watching in these movies. Any way the director has not announced any single project for the last 12months and is busy engaging himself as the director of some media schools. But surprises never cease in filmdom, no?

Exactly after six years in the cans, `Aayirathil Oruvan' - a movie by Sibi Malayil completed years back, is finally getting a chance to see the light. Will this movie give a new direction to the director's lagging career? Just wait for a week and you will know.

`Aayirathil Oruvan' which was shot in 2002-03 season tells a contemporary theme that affects many thousands of people of our consumer state.

The movie has Kalabhavan Mani as a common man, a ration dealer. He is one who is liked and respected by everyone for his pleasant manners. A person who had been the lone dependent for a big family and one who always try to make money through good ways to support all around him.

The twist comes up in his life when he borrows a big sum for his sister's marriage from a local money lender who charges big amounts as interest. The exorbitant interest gradually becomes a big burden to the protagonist which changes his character in more ways than one.

Written by T. A. Razaaq, the movie helped him to bag the award for best screen play in a state award, few years ago.

Also in the cast of the movie are KPAC Lalitha, Salim Kumar, Janardhanan, and Tamil actor Senthil.

The movie features four songs set to music by Mohan Sithara in the lyrics of Yusafali Ketchery. Produced by Siyad Kokker under the banner of Kokers films, the movie will get into theatres by this weekend.
