About 6.6 lakh people have contracted Covid-19 in Hyderabad: Study

Official figures say that 95,700 confirmed Coronavirus cases have been there in Hyderabad. But if a sampling study is anything to go by, more than 6.60 lakh people have got infected already. And two lakh of these are active cases currently.
The sampling study was held by the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), which studied the faecal samples collected from several sewage treatment plants (STPs) in Hyderabad. Viral particles are found in faecal matter and this has been useful in drawing conclusions.
There are 2.2 lakh active Covid-19 cases in Hyderabad on the basis of the study.
Around 6 per cent of the city's population has been infected by the virus. This includes symptomatic, asymptomatic, and also recently recovered individuals in a time-window of about 35 days, the PTI has quoted the CCMB as saying.
