Action Hero Biju is a perfectly made realistic movie which depicts the story of a police officer. It is really hard to describe the movie because one should watch it to feel the real pulse of the movie. The movie begins through the introduction of the police Sub Inspector Biju and it progresses like we are travelling with a police officer and seeing all those things that is happening around him; as is made clear from the subtitle ' a ride with a police officer! One shouldn't expect a typical action or romance movie that Nivin has always done best. 'Action Hero Biju' simply defies all genres. Malayalam cinema wouldn't have witnessed such a beautifully crafted realistic police movie ever.

The difficulties and hard situations a police officer faces are well executed and is depicted brilliantly on screen. Director Abrid Shine's craft is evident in those scenes. What he wanted to say is well addressed through the movie. And he has proved once again after 1983 that any other subject is safe in his hands.

Nivin has done his part perfectly. The gestures and emotions of Biju is very different from his typical romantic characters and he has portrayed the role of Biju admirably well. He shines well as Sub Inspector Biju Paulose. The story is said in humorous way. If you ever get a chance to be in a police station then you will definitely understand the humorous part in the movie.

While making the people laugh the director hasn't forgotten to make the people think through the movie. The increased amount of crime rate among children and its reasons are shown through event after event. Venjaranmoodu Suraj and his character in the movie is notable. We can relate to it through the daily news we see in news papers. Apart from comedy the actor has become a pivotal character in the movie. That character will haunt you even after leaving the theatre.

There is no typical plot per se in the movie. It is a ride with a police officer. Real life incidents like the missing case of a navel officer while rescuing a woman from drowning and other contemporary events all are shown through the movie. And it ends saying that 'the life with a police officer is very risky and Biju says it to his fiance that she should think twice before marrying him.

Events just flow in the course of the narration and what stays is the protagonist. Life of a police officer is glorified through this movie in a realistic way. Biju is a person who stands with the truth and fight for it. He helps poor people and helpless people well with his logic and good mind. He is an hard hitting police for culprits and at the same time a good bro the next door woman. Nivin has done his best for the movie. Anu Emmanuel the lead heroine in the movie does not have much to do, though her screen presence is notable.

Most of the co actors in the movie are freshers but they are shown in their best performance through the film -  from Nivin's father-in-law to the drunkard person who sings songs at the police station - all looks good on screen. Familiar faces like Jude Anthony, Major Ravi, Sayju Kurup, Devi Ajith, Joju George all leave an impact. Cinematography is not so brilliant. One can feel some flaws here and there but retains an overall appeal. Music by Jerry Amal Dev and Rajesh Murukeshan blends well with the narrative. The movie could very well be said as Abrid Shine and Nivin Pauly's magnum opus. Simply put, 'Action Hero Biju' is  definitely a entertainer as well as a good cinema, which full heartedly salutes realism and the everyday life. So don't skip the movie.
