The coronavirus infections that saw a dip in Chennai a few weeks back reporting less than 1000 cases a day has now increased again and is hovering around the 1300 mark daily. Many celebrities too have been affected by deadly virus and Kollywood lost SPB one of its major icons.

Recently veteran actor and DMDK leader Captain Vijayakanth and his wife Premalatha too were admitted to a hospital in Chennai and they just got discharged. For the past day rumours started spreading that Ilayathilagam Prabhu has been infected and is in quarantine.

The rumour could have been triggered because Prabhu was absent at a memorial event at his house for his father the late Sivaji Ganesan's birth anniversary which was attended by the deputy Chief Minister OPS and Minister Jaikumar.

Prabhu has clarified to the media that the news about him infected by COVID 19 is absolutely false. He has added that he twisted his ankle when walking on wet floor during the rain and he did not want to get the guests anxious by walking with a limp and assured that otherwise, he is hale and healthy.

Prabhu is currently playing an important role in the underproduction mega multistarrer 'Ponniyin Selvan' directed by Mani Ratnam and costarring Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi and Jayaram.
