Actor Sriram, who made his debut with the Tamil film Roja Poolu, has unexpectedly found himself at the center of a drug-related controversy. Hailing from Tirupati, Sriram initially acted in a few Tamil films before stepping into Telugu cinema. Since there was already a well-known actor named Srikanth Meka in the Telugu industry, he adopted the screen name Sriram to avoid confusion.
He rose to popularity with the Telugu film Okariki Okaru, which featured chartbuster songs that worked in his favor. Although he went on to act in several films, sustained success remained elusive. Now, Sriram’s name has resurfaced in headlines, but for the wrong reasons.
Chennai Police have reportedly arrested Sriram in connection with a drugs case. He was taken to the Nungambakkam Police Station, where he was interrogated for over two hours by the Narcotics Intelligence Unit. Following the questioning, he was taken to Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital for medical examination and to collect blood samples.
Preliminary information suggests that Sriram allegedly procured drugs from Prasad, a former AIADMK executive, who along with two others, was also arrested. Based on their statements, Sriram’s name emerged, leading to his detention and questioning.
