A case has been registered against Malayalam actors Mammootty, Ramesh Pisharody, and nearly 300 others by the Kerala police for allegedly violating COVID-19 protocols during the inauguration of a medical facility at a hospital near Kozhikode.
The police reportedly said that Mammootty and Ramesh Pisharody were at the private hospital on August 3 for the inauguration of a robot-assisted service for joint replacement surgery. Apparently a huge crowd gathered over there for the event not long after. The cases against the actors and some of the hospital management staff have been registered under sections 4, 5 and 6 of the Kerala Epidemic Diseases Act, 2021.
"Almost 300 people participated in the programme inaugurated by actor Mammootty. We have also registered a case against the hospital MD, COO and others under various provisions of the Kerala Epidemic Diseases Act," a police official was reportedly quoted as saying.
