Chandana, a 29-year-old Sandalwood actress and Kannada television anchor, has committed suicide after her boyfriend Dinesh allegedly refused to marry her. The woman had shot a selfie video before dying, giving the reason for taking the extreme step.

A case of abetment to suicide against Dinesh and his family has been registered by the Bengaluru police. Early reports say that the person is absconding. A team has been formed to arrest the accused.

Chandana used to live in Krishnamurthy Layout in Tavarekere. The deceased actress is reported to have sent her self-shot video to Dinesh's parents, her parents and friends moments before her death. After the video reached them, Chandana's parents informed neighbours to go check on her; the neighbours took her to a hospital. She died while undergoing treatment in a hospital.

Police have found that Dinesh had borrowed Rs 5 lakh from Chandana, and later refused to marry her and avoided her.
