A shocking case of fraud has come to light, where an actress who once starred alongside Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth was cheated out of ₹1.5 lakh under the pretense of securing special darshan tickets for the Tirupati Ezhumalaiyan Temple.
Actress Rupini, a popular star of Tamil cinema in the late 1980s, gained fame with films like Manithan and Raja Chinna Roja alongside Rajinikanth, as well as Apoorva Sagodharargal and Michael Madana Kama Rajan with Kamal Haasan. After stepping away from the industry post-marriage, she settled in Mumbai but continued to visit the Tirupati temple frequently.
Recently, a man named Saravanan from Tamil Nadu allegedly approached Rupini, promising to arrange special darshan tickets. Trusting him, she transferred ₹1.5 lakh, only to realize later that she had been scammed. When she tried to contact him, he was unresponsive and had reportedly gone into hiding.
Realizing the fraud, Rupini reached out to government officials, urging action against the scammer. The incident has caused widespread shock, highlighting the growing concern of fraudulent activities targeting devotees.
