The hot news in Tamil Nadu currently is that BJP president Annamalai has removed actress Gayathri Raghuram from basic party membership and also from the post of State President of Other State and Overseas Tamil Development and Art and Culture State wing. The suspension is for six months and party members have been adviced not to have any links with her with regards to the party.

Gayathri who has been active in taking up issues on behalf of her party has reacted on Twitter suggesting that Annamalai has planned her ouster. She wrote "I accept. But people who love me will talk to me. No one can stop that. I will work for the Nation with suspension. I will not accept that I’m against BJP party. I will smack anyone who says that. No individual is a party. This is how power can take any decision without an enquiry. He always wanted me out from day one. I will come back stronger.

Gayathri the daughter of legendary dance choreographer Raghuram has been in the film industry from age 14 as a dancer and choreographer herself before turning heroine. She has acted in a few films including the super hit 'Charlie Chaplin' starring Prabhu Deva and Prabhu. She also participated in 'Bigg Boss' hosted by Kamal Haasan.

Of late Gayathri allegedly miffed by the party leadership sidelining her has been vocal about issues that arose. Especially she slammed the high command in a recent controversy involving BJP leader Trichy Surya Siva using abusive language against a female minority wing functionary Daisy Saran in a leaked audio.

Gayathri wrote on Twitter in Tamil "He has promised to cut out his tongue if he speaks ill of women. Why attack the women of your own party in such cases? It is a big mistake to give state post in the party to these hyenas."
