Actress Parvathy takes a BOLD decision

Mollywood's most sought after actress Parvathy announced that she has resigned from the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). On Monday night, the actress took to her social media handle to announce her decision in protest to the 'derogatory remarks' made by  AMMA general secretary Edavela Babu in a recent TV interview against the 2017 assaulted actress in a moving car.

In the interview Edavela Babu was asked if the survivor actress would be part of the Twenty 20 sequel film. To which he replied that the actress was not in AMMA and that his organisation cannot “bring back the dead”.

Saying his remarks as 'disgusting and mortifying', Parvathy announced her resignation on Facebook.

Demanding Babu's resignation as AMMA general secretary, Parvathy wrote,  “In 2018, when my friends resigned from AMMA, I stayed back thinking at least a few should continue to work within a broken system and help repair it. But after watching AMMA General Secretary speak, I have abandoned all hope that anything will ever change within this association. His utterly disgusting and mortifying remark comparing a woman member who had been badly let down by this organisation and consequently left it, to a dead person is beyond correction.”

Rima Kallingal, Geetu Mohandas, Remya Nambeesan and the survivor  had resigned from AMMA in 2018 post the incident due to a row over the reinstatement of actor Dileep, who was one of the accused in the case.
