Priya Bhavani Shankar, who worked as a newsreader on television acted in just one television serial 'Kadhal Mudhal Kalyanam Varai'. She became so popular that the big screen chance came instantly with the Karthik Subbaraj production 'Meyadha Maan' directed by Rathnakumar. Since then she has acted in several hit films including 'Monster', 'Oh Manapenne', 'Yaanai' and 'Thiruchitrambalam'.
