Senior actress Sachu was denied voting rights in the Nadigar Sangam elections held yesterday. The actress who has been acting since the Black and white era was very much part of the fierce election campaign as he lent open support for the Pandavar Ani mostly consisting of younger generation actors.

While most of the young actresses and leading heroines of this era failed even to turn up to the election venue Sachu came to excercise her voting rights as a long-standing member of Nadigar Sangam. She was however not allowed to vote. The reason cited was that Sachu did not pay the subscription to renew her membership in the Nadigar Sangam.

Addressing media persons, Sachu pointed out that the records maintained in the Nadigar Sangam office show that she has paid the subscription for membership for the period of 2008-2017. She also asked when the issue of paying membership was not raised when collecting donation from members why it should become an issue while exercising the right to vote.

Reports suggest that another senior actress Lakshmi who did not have the membership renewed was allowed to vote. Former President of the Sangam. Sarathkumar said that Lakshmi was allowed to vote by retired Justice E.Padmanabhan, using his discretionary powers as the presiding officer of the Elections.
