Veteran actress Sumalatha wins against Chief Ministers son

Veteran actress Sumalatha contesting the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 as an independent from the Mandya constituency in Karnataka has won against Nikil Kumaraswamy the son of the Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy. It was a neck to neck fight and the winning margin was just 610 with each getting over one lakh and twenty-two thousand votes

Sumalatha is the widow of superstar Ambareesh who passed away in 2018 and is a close friend of Superstar Rajinikanth having acted with him in films such as 'Kazhugu' and 'Murattu Kaalai'.
