Hot on the heels of the re-release of Vallarasu, fans of Captain Vijayakanth have more reason to celebrate. It has been officially announced that his legendary 100th film, Captain Prabhakaran, will also be re-released—sending waves of excitement among his loyal followers.

Originally released on April 14, 1991, coinciding with Tamil New Year’s Day, Captain Prabhakaran was a massive box office hit, running for over 300 days in theaters. Now, more than three decades later, the cult classic is all set to return to the big screen, much to the delight of longtime fans.

Inspired by the life of the infamous sandalwood smuggler Veerappan, the action-packed drama features a star-studded cast including Sarathkumar, Mansoor Ali Khan, Livingston, Rupini, Ramya Krishnan, and M. N. Nambiar, alongside Vijayakanth in the titular role.

The film’s iconic soundtrack, especially the evergreen hit “Aatama Therotama” composed by Ilayaraja, still resonates with fans today.

While the official re-release date for Captain Prabhakaran has yet to be announced, the buzz is already building. With Vallarasu hitting theaters this week, this double celebration of Vijayakanth’s legacy is shaping up to be a nostalgic treat for Tamil cinema lovers.
