DMK`s working president M.K. Stalin has said that the AIADMK`s lust for power caused last year`s demise of its general secretary and former chief-minister J. Jayalalithaa.

Stalin was campaigning intensely in support of DMK candidate Marudhu Ganesh in R.K. Nagar where campaigning ends today. Voting for the by-polls, caused by Jayalalithaa`s untimely and mysterious demise, is to be held on Thursday (21st December). He covered Korukkupet Bharathi Nagar Main Road, Harinarayanapuram, Perumal Koil Street, Ambedkar Nagar, Ezhil Nagar and Meenambal Nagar.

“People here are aware of the circumstances which forced a by-poll in R.K. Nagar; demise of former chief-minister J. Jayalalithaa is the reason for the by-poll. It is rather unfortunate that even after more than a year, her demise still remains an unresolved mystery. She was under treatment in Apollo Hospitals for 75 days and was reportedly well` as per the statements made by a few AIADMK MLAs/Ministers.

“However, neither the OPS-lead administration which was in-charge at that time nor State`s Health Minister Vijayabhaskar said anything about her health. This amply reveals that the lust for power within the AIADMK had caused Jayalalithaa`s demise and I`m sure OPS, EPS and Sasikala had jointly enacted a long-winding drama only to usurp power,” Stalin concluded.

Stalin again reiterated his earlier allegation that deputy chief-minister OPS was the main` accused in Jayalalithaa`s demise.
