Soon after Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan announced that he had tested positive for the novel coronavirus on July 11, reports were out that his son Abhishek Bachchan, daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and granddaughter Aaradhya had contracted the virus as well.

Amitabh and Abhishek were shifted to a hospital for treatment while Aishwarya and Aaradhya remained isolated at their residence. A few days later, Aishwarya and her daughter were admitted to the hospital as well. Earlier this week, Abhishek Bachchan revealed that Aishwarya and Aaradhya have tested negative for COVID-19 and will be discharged soon. "Thank you all for your continued prayers and good wishes. Indebted forever. Aishwarya and Aaradhya have thankfully tested negative and have been discharged from the hospital. They will now be at home. My father and I remain in hospital under the care of the medical staff," his tweet read.

Aishwarya Rai, who has now been discharged from the Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai, has thanked her fans for the unconditional support towards her and her family during their battle against COVID-19. In her first official statement after her recovery from the viral illness, Aishwarya Rai said, "Thank you so much for all your prayers, concern, wishes and love for my darling angel, and for Pa, AB and me. Overwhelmed and forever indebted...God bless you all. All my love always and prayers for the well-being of you all. Truly, deeply and heartfelt. Be well and be safe. God bless. Love you all too."
