Aishwarya Rajinikanth reveals how Superstar Rajinikanth’s character in ‘Lal Salaam’ overshadowed other aspects

Aishwarya Rajinikanth's recent film 'Lal Salaam' failed to fulfil the fans' expectations and had a poor run at the box office. It is a known fact that her father, Superstar Rajinikanth, appeared in a cameo role in the sports drama film with Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in the lead roles.

In a recent interview, Aishwarya opened up about how Rajinikanth's 'Moideen Bhai' character overshadowed the other aspects of the film and possibly contributed to its poor response. She said, "Initially, we had scripted the character of Moideen Bhai for just 10 minutes in 'Lal Salaam'. But once superstar Rajinikanth entered the film, we were forced to frame the story around him.

Actually, the story of this film revolves around Senthil sir. He was the character who carried the ideas of this film to the people, but after Superstar came in as Moideen Bhai, we had to change the screenplay of the film to focus on him.

We initially planned Moideen Bhai character's at the film's interval point. But owing to commercial constraints, we had to bring the character earlier. So, we shuffled the edit two days before release to bring the Moideen Bhai character into the story much earlier.

People weren't able to see the story I was trying to narrate, after bringing in the character of a superstar, a leader. They want to see him and want the story to revolve around him. This is what I learned from this film.

Since I had shot the first half of this film in a non-linear way, many people did not understand the story. But I presumed that they would understand it after watching the second half. However, I realized only after the film's release that the audience saw the first half in a different way and the second half in a different way.

As much as I got negative reviews for this film, I also got positive reviews and I took both equally. I learned some lessons from this film. I won't make those mistakes in my future films." Her statements are a hot topic on social media now as it was indirectly blaming Superstar Rajinikanth's character as the reason for the movie's failure.
