Director Venkat Prabhu recently shared that the first star who truly believed in him was actor Ajith Kumar. While attending a private award function, he addressed questions about actor Ajith and the possibility of a sequel to their blockbuster film Mankatha.

Venkat Prabhu stated, “I’m not sure about Mankatha 2 yet. Everyone wants it to happen, but I don’t know if it will be a sequel or a completely new project.” He also reflected on how Ajith gave him a break when his career was still forming, saying, “Like how Aadhi Ravichandran mentioned that Ajith sir gave him a chance when no other film worked, it was the same for me. After making small films like Chennai 28, Saroja, and Goa featuring newcomers, it was Ajith sir who offered me an opportunity.”

He added, “Ajith sir was the first major star, super star, ultimate star to trust me. He’s the only one who believed in me as a director at that time. After Chennai 28, I was sent to meet a few producers but nothing materialized. Now everyone, including me, is just waiting.”

Venkat Prabhu's film Mankatha, featuring Ajith in the lead, was a significant hit. Since then, the two have not collaborated. However, rumors of a reunion between Ajith and Venkat Prabhu have been circulating recently on social media, although no official confirmation has been made.
