Why has this casting change taken place in Ajith's 'Thala 56'?

It was Santhanam who was said to be the comedian of Ajith's next film, directed by Siruthai Siva. However, it seems Soori has replaced Santhanam as the latter did not have enough dates to allocate to this film.

"Soori is so happy to bag an offer to work with Ajith," sources said. Shooting for the yet untitled film begins on the outskirts of Chennai from today. Then the team will shift the base to Kolkata.

Shruti Haasan will be the heroine of this flick, which will apparently have Lakshmi Menon as Ajith's sister. Music is by Anirudh and the composer is already done with theme music and a couple of songs.
