Allu Arjun's 'nepotism rocks' views don't rock

Two years ago, a few Bollywoodians stirred a controversy by saying that nepotism actually rocks. This didn't go down well with many, who are of the firm view that nepotism in our film industries has blacked out more deserving talent.

Just in the last few days, Allu Arjun has defended nepotism thrice. In two different interviews, the 'Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo' star described it as something natural (almost). While saying that he has special respect towards self-made actors, Bunny was quick to add that just as a priest's son becomes a priest, dedicating his life to the deity in a temple, his family members too have been serving the 'prekshaka devullu'. If this is called nepotism, so be it, he added during Monday's special event of his latest box-office release.

As per some critics on social media, this is twisting thinking. Be it in Medicine, Law, politics, cinema or any field, qualifications (academic or otherwise) are important. If the son of the CEO of a corporate hospital becomes the hospital's new CEO at the age of 30 without any prior experience, it is nepotism despite him being a qualified doctor, says a Facebook commentator who disagrees with Bunny's latest comments.

Some feel that beneficiaries of nepotism would do well to stop defending themselves. It's better to behave as though the debate doesn't exist than make convoluted remarks like this one, opines a Twitter user.
