Amusement Park Ride Crash Kills 2, Injures 26

What was supposed to be a joyride ended tragically in Ahmedabad when the ride crashed injuring 26 and killing 2 individuals. The ‘Discovery’ joyride Balvatika Amusement Park was in the form of a pendulum. When the pole supporting it snapped, the structure fell to the ground. The incident took place yesterday evening.
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) commissioner, Vijay Nehra confirmed two deaths. He said: “The AMC fire department conducted swift disaster response operations. The heads of departments of paediatrics, ortho and surgery reported to the hospital and the injured are being treated.” The police and forensic team are investigating the incident and are looking into the license for and maintenance of the ride. The treatment cost for the injured will be taken care of by the AMC.
