An Ordinary Mans Extraordinary Journey a Biography of Thiagarajan

Famous actor Thiagarajan in an interview to 'IndiaGlitz' I lost my father at a young age and worked hard for my family and became a businessman. After that I also got involved in film distribution, and we decided to buy and distribute the film Phootada Bhoottu that I, Raja Sir, and director Bharathiraja would do together in this film distribution. Bharathiraja stepped aside saying that I am not here for this game. After that I produced Alaigal Oivatthillai and I would take the director Bharathiraja to all the schools in Chennai in search of a hero for this film. Finally we selected a student from Donbosco School.

One day Ilayaraja took me to Mookambikai temple and while going, my brother RD Bhaskar had shot a film called Marudhani, at that time he was ill and admitted to the hospital. So he asks to give him the film Alagali Oiwathillai. I agreed that the film was produced by Ilayaraja's brother. When I decided to act in Alaigal Oivathillai, my wife told me not to act. Then director Bharathiraja convinced my wife and cast me in the film. After that I did many films like Mambatiyaan and Kaval.

Even more interestingly, I got a chance to act with Sivaji in a film called Garuda Chaukyama, but I was scared. One day Sivaji called me to Sathya Studio and asked if I had told him not to act. No sir I said I am scared to act with you. He made me act by saying no you have to act. I used to wear a lot of jewelry around my neck and Shivaji would look at me and tell me to come to a jeweller's shop, and as he said it worked, today I have a jeweller's shop.
