Andhra Pradesh ranked No. 1 in costliest scams: Report

Andhra Pradesh has reportedly been ranked as the worst State in India in terms of costliest scams, by the Crime in India report (for the year 2019), brought out by the National Crime Records Bureau.
Here are some key highlights pertaining to the Telugu State:
Forgery, cheating, fraud: Total number of cases was 3,675. Property loss in 302 of these cases was to the tune of Rs 50-100 Cr. Up to 88% of economic offences fall in this category for AP.
Criminal breach of trust: Here too, the track record of AP is horrible.
Andhra Pradesh saw 332 cases where the scam amount lay in the tens of crores, says a TOI report, analyzing the NCRB data.
It may be noted that, when it comes to data, recording of offences is the key determining factor. If a State is good at recording complaints/offences, it looks more scam-ridden than others.
