Sean Baker's romantic comedy film, Anora, had an outstanding run at the 97th Academy Awards. Out of its six nominations, the film secured five wins, making it the most successful movie at this year's Oscars.
Anora won major awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Film Editing, and Best Original Screenplay. However, it was nominated but did not win for Best Supporting Actor.
Sean Baker himself won the Oscars for Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Film Editing. Actress Mikey Madison received the Best Actress award, while Alex Coco, Samantha Quan, and Sean Baker together won Best Picture.
The film had already gained recognition by winning the prestigious Palme d'Or at Cannes last year. Baker, who started his career with the 2015 film Tangerine, shot entirely on an iPhone, has now created one of the most successful films at the Oscars.
His journey serves as an inspiration to aspiring filmmakers, proving that talent and content-rich storytelling matter more than big budgets and high-end equipment. If you consistently deliver great content, recognition and resources will naturally follow.
