Anushka Sharma impresses Anurag Kashyap: 'Bombay Velvet'

Anushka Sharma who plays the role of a vibrant Jazz singer from the 60's in Anurag Kashyap's 'Bombay Velvet', had to put in a lot of effort and time to get the correct look for the film.

As per our sources, between her makeup, hair and getting into the costumes, Anushka's look used to take around 4 hours every day. That meant Anushka would start her day 4 hours earlier than anyone else. Besides, most of Anushka's costumes were weighing more than 30 - 35 kgs and she would have to be in her costumes the entire day and carry the weight. Yet she was always ready on time and Anurag Kashyap was impressed with Anushka Sharma and her dedication.

It can be noted, the 1960's look recreation was extremely difficult as the makeup had to be done in a certain manner and the hair needed to be styled differently. The makeup artists were required to use minimum make up products as in the 60's there were less tools available. Costumes and makeup had to be based upon the mood of the song. The whole look was dependent on the type of song, be it a peppy or soft number. A good amount of time was invested to figure out the costume and makeup for Anushka's look in the film. With every costume, the makeup had to be different.

Starring Ranbir Kapoor in lead along with Anushka, 'Bombay Velvet' releases on May 15, 2015.
