AP government delivers a blow to 'RRR', 'Bheemla Nayak', others

On Wednesday, one more move was made by the Jaganmohan Reddy government to signal its non-willingness to help big-budget movies such as 'Roudram Ranam Rudhiram' and 'Radhe Shyam' to have it easy. These movies need extra shows and surge ticket pricing in the first week or so for the stakeholders to recover investments. But the Andhra Pradesh government is not willing to give them any option.

Minister Perni Nani stated in the Assembly that online ticketing will be introduced through an amendment to the Cinematography Act. Whether the customer books a ticket online or at the theatre, everything will be processed digitally. This is meant to ensure transparency. The Minister said that there is a mismatch between the GST rates and the amount of money that theatres are paying as tax. It's because theatres are allegedly not transparent.

Nani said that the film industry has been exploiting the people's weakness for cinema by charging high ticket rates.

It's not clear why the government doesn't want to allow extra shows with the ticket rates it deems fit.

The AP government's decision is going to affect the likes of 'RRR', 'Radhe Shyam', 'Bheemla Nayak', 'Pushpa', and 'Acharya' in the immediate future.
