Appa

Samuthirakani has written and directed 'Appa' and also produced it under his Nadodigal Film Productions banner. After 'Nimirndhu Nil' that released in mid 2014, he has been busy with his acting ventures and is now back as a director after a gap of two years.

The film revolves around three children and their fathers representing three different types. Samuthirkani plays a father who lets his child grow and gather knowledge on its own and he would render all the support required from a father. Thambi Ramiah plays a strict father who is almost like a dictator to his child and wants to decide anything and everything about his child's education and future. There is another father who is neither liberal nor strict and would fall somewhere between the two.

In short 'Appa' will tell us the importance of a father in the growth of a child with these three characters and Samuthirakani has written the script based on some real life incidents. Going by the filmmaker's words we can also expect some relevant and powerful messages regarding the education system and parenting.

Though the film is considered to be a sequel to 'Sattai', Samuthirakani has said they have carefully avoided classroom scenes in order to eliminate the deja vu feel.

The supporting cast includes Vinidhini, Namo Narayana, J. Vignesh and many others. Isaignani Ilaiyaraja has rendered the musical score. Richard.M. Nathan has cranked the camera. Editing is by A.L. Ramesh,

The makers followed a unique promotional strategy. Many achievers from the film industry as well as the other fields were made to speak about about their father and these were released as videos. This has caught up the attention of the moviegoers and helped create positive buzz around the film.

'Appa' is getting ready to hit the screens on July 1.
