Are OTT platforms facing content crisis?

Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Zee5, SunNXT, DisneyPlus Hotstar and Aha are major aggressive content producers as far as Telugu OTT space is concerned. Netflix is not buying new films and it did not commission big web-series from Telugu producers as well.

Amazon Prime too is acting very cautiously and it not buy any new films or order any fresh web-series. Aha is waiting for lockdown to be lifted and Zee5 is not being able to come up exciting content. Their Amrutham 2 and Amrutharamam have turned out to be disasters.

SunNXT has never been an active participant when it comes to web-series and there are being the same. But with lack of new films, they are facing even bigger problems with keeping the subscribers intact.

Now, Disney Plus Hotstar is also facing tough times as they cannot find new subscribers with less daily TV activity and live sports streaming. As people are getting bored with lockdown extensions and as no one is ever about when government will give permission to resume shoots, the OTT platforms are facing content crisis.

To keep subscribers intact they are trying to promote old films, old web-series and Netflix is the only one which seems to have content planned way ahead and good to go till May end with new shows but they don't have any big players up their sleeve to keep Indians attracted. Mrs Serial Killer earned more criticism than praise for them. Seems like even OTT platforms are hit badly by lockdown extensions!
