Ashok Selvan's detailed statement about Jallikattu will touch your heart

Young and promising actor Ashok Selvan has written a detailed letter in Tamil in support of Jallikattu in which he claims to be hailing from a family of farmers.

The crux of the two paged emotional and straight forward letter goes as below:

The 'Thegidi' actor couches that bulls have been, and will always be the agriculturists' closest of kin.

The whole idea behind the 'Jallikattu' festival is absolutely misconstrued by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) organization, as well as many others. Contrary to the claims, the traditional festival of 'Jallikattu' is actually a form of tribute paid to the bulls, and the allegations of animal cruelty and abuse, leading to the ban on Jallikattu is entirely built on wrong foundation.

Jallikattu is a sport, and its only apparent that there are accidents involved, affirms Mr.Selvan. He believes that its our obligation to bring justice to the farmers who raise bulls as their own children.

"Just because road accidents happen, can we ban the entire vehicular traffic" asks the actor.

Ashok Selvan who takes pride in the fact that he is a Tamilan ends his letter with this statement. "Jallikattu is our tradition. In tradition, lies our pride. And in protecting it, lies our imperative duty."
