Actor Dhanush had last year teamed up with director Vetrimaaran for the fourth time after Pollathavan, Aadukalam and Vada Chennai for Asuran, and the movie was produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu.

Released in October, the movie which was based on the novel Vekkai by Poomani also starred Manju warrier, Ken Karunas, Ammu abhirami and became a superhit. Asuran is being remade in Telugu with Venkatesh and Priyamani as Narappa.

The latest news making the rounds is that the Kannada remake of Asuran might have Kannada superstar Shiva Rajkumar playing Dhanush's role and this remake might be directed by Jacob Varghese. An official announcement is expected soon. It must be noted that before 13 years, Dhanush acted in Parattai Engira Azhagu Sundaram which was the remake of Shiva Rajkumar's Yogi.
